FAQ

How do I make digital files of my original (non-digital) artwork?

If you have original artwork in a non-digital format, we recommend taking digital photographs or scanning your original artwork. We suggest that digital files be uploaded at 300dpi of greater.  This is to ensure that the resolution of your image is high enough to create all the gifts we have to offer at littledavinci.com.  You may have to change the setting on your digital camera or scanner to make sure the resolution is high enough.

Here is a list of tips on how to make this process a success:

• Use a quality digital camera (8 MP, or greater).
• Turn off the flash on your camera.
• Make sure that your artwork is horizontal - flat to a wall or on an easel.
• Center your piece of art to the height of the camera – use a tripod is possible.
• Square your piece of art to the focal plane of the camera - again, use a tripod.
• Use a lot of light.  Natural light is always best, but make sure to turn on as many lights as possible when shooting.
• Shoot from far enough away to insure good depth of field (perfect focus) and to avoid any focal distortions.
• Use a professional digital image editing program to finish your image - i.e., Photoshop, Fireworks, or Picasa.
• Crop out any background or existing frame edges so that the digital file represents only your artwork.
• Upload your images to your littledavinci gallery and get your business started!

I uploaded artwork and submitted it for approval, but I do not yet see it on the website.  What happened?

If you are a teacher, it’ s possible that the parent of the artist has not yet granted approval.  To check this, please sign into your account a look to see if the artwork in question is “ awaiting parental approval” .  You can send a reminder if this is the case.  Otherwise, our administrators may not have approved the image yet.  It should be live on the site within a couple days of getting parental approval.

How do I buy something?

What does it mean when it says that the resolution is too low to print a product?

It means that we recommend using an image with a higher resolution.   You can still order the product if this disclaimer pops up, but you may find the image to be a little grainy or blurry.  We suggest a few things:  First, make sure that you upload images at 300dpi or greater.  Second, use the templates below the product builder to minimize the need for resolution.  Third, try to find another product that excites you.  Please see our Terms and Conditions for a detailed description of our return policy.
